What we check on the roof
Four things decide whether treatment is worth paying for.
We test
- How far a shingle bends before it cracks
- How much granule is left on the surface
- The age of the roof and how it has weathered
- Damage such as lifted tabs, bare nail heads or worn flashing
Signs it needs something else
- Shingles that snap instead of flexing
- Bald patches where the granules are gone
- Leaks indoors or a deck that gives underfoot
Three possible answers
Good candidate. The shingles still flex and hold most of their granules. We price the shingle treatment and pick a dry day with you.
Candidate after prep. A few loose shingles, bare nails or a tired pipe boot. A pre-treatment tune-up closes those first, and heavy algae or moss gets a soft wash. Each is priced next to the treatment, so the total is known up front.
Not a candidate. Brittle shingles, leaks or a roof near the end of its life need repair or replacement, and that is work for a roofer. We say so plainly and leave it there.
